This lovely gingko leaf pendant features 4 spring gingko leaves, 3 on the pendant, 1 on the bail, a faceted pear shaped blue spinel and a 4mm green nano gem. This pendant is made with recycled fine silver. It has an Art Nouveau feel, my favorite jewelry period. I painted the gingko leaves with silver paste, then added them to the hand sculpted curling vine.
The pendant swings on a bail with the smallest gingko leaf.
Nestled in the vine is the lab grown blue spinel and nano gem. The green nano is a new man made gem of nano sized spinel crystals in a glass/ceramic matrix. It is the deep green of an emerald and has sparkle to spare. The reason this stone is used is that it can withstand the heat of the kiln.
The pendant has my makers mark and purity stamp on the back side, seen in the last photo.
Hung on an 18 inch oxidized sterling silver snake chain, the pendant measures 51 mm or 2 inches long by 39 mm or 1 1/2 inches wide.
A note on precious metal clay:
ArtClay silver is a recycled product that consists of fine silver particles suspended in an organic binder. The clay can be worked like other forms of clay, sculpted to almost any shape you desire. The product is then fired at an extremely high temperature, either by kiln or torch. The binder burns away resulting in a pure silver (.999) piece. The silver is reclaimed from such sources as 35mm film and medical and industrial leftovers. No strip mining necessary.
