Ombre purple enameled Envy Designs Signature leaf earrings. I enameled these fine silver Viburnum leaves with deep purple and lavender. I topped the leaves with carved amethyst leaves and roundels and rainbow moonstone gemstones. There are a few light purple sapphires briolettes as well. I finished the silver earrings with sterling silver lever back ear wires.
These leaves are created by painting silver paste on the back side of leaves, then firing in a kiln. The leaf burns away leaving the fab leaves in pure silver. Then a first coat of transparent enamel is applied, then fired again. This happens several times to achieve the desired affect.
These earrings measure 56 mm x 15 mm, or 2 1/4 inches long.
A note on precious metal clay:ArtClay silver is a recycled product that consists of fine silver particles suspended in an organic binder. The clay can be worked like other forms of clay, sculpted to almost any shape you desire. The product is then fired at an extremely high temperature, either by kiln or torch. The binder burns away resulting in a pure silver (.999) piece. The silver is reclaimed from such sources as 35mm film and medical and industrial leftovers. No strip mining necessary.
